What separate a manager from a leader is the instinct and courage to make the tough calls decisively, but with fairness and absolute integrity.

Leaders who possess courage have a trait that can permeate and transform everything they do.

So remember the following leadership skill courage points:

  • Courage is not the absence of fear. It is acting despite the presence of fear.
  • Acts of courage perpetuate additonal acts of courage by both leader and followers.
  • People are inspired by leaders who are realistic about the obstables but challenge them anyway.
  • Stand firm in your beliefs most honest conflicts can be resolved and the commitment of both parties strengthened as a result.
  • When it's a "close call" between risk and safety, leaders go for the risk.
  • When you're hitting difficult short term obstacles, remembering your long term goal creates courage.
  • Adversity energizes and motivates the courageous eader, but quickly "quenches the fire" of those who lack courage.
  • People rarely get anywhere without extending their necks.
