Time Management: Course of Action Leader Activity

Success University

"Important / Urgent .... Your Choice Activity"

Supplies:

For each person, copy the activity below and give each a bag of at least 24 colorful candy pieces. (A small bag of hard-coated chocolate pieces works great.)

Instructions:

Have each person rank the Your Choice list. After ranking, open the bag of candy and separate into color groups. Place four candies on the items that are urgent, and two on important, but not urgent. Some items may not be important to you, so it is all right for them to not have candy. Invite the group to discuss their urgent and important placements with another person in the group.

Some questions to ask: How do you use your time to do what is important? How do you use your time to do what is urgent? What happens if you spend all your time on urgent activities?

Your Choice

What is important to you? In what areas do you place emphasis in planning your time? Think about what areas are important to you. Then rank the list below. Number them from 1 to 12 in the order of importance.

_____  Paying Bills on Time                     _____  Enjoying Your Job

                        _____  Appearance                                  _____  Clean Home

_____  Physical Recreation                      _____  Keeping Your Job

_____  Hobbies                                       _____  Shared Family Activities

                        _____  Entertainment                               _____  Health

_____  Family Safety                               _____  Church Activities
